Andrea Cashell

I am a Landscape Artist from Youghal, Co. Cork, where I work from my studio at the Raleigh Quarter. Growing up beside the sea has been a constant source of inspiration for me. I am mesmerised by the movement of the water and the shifting sands, always changing, never the same. My practice involves daily walks on the beach to take photographs and sketches, then I go back to the studio to develop the work further in oils. My most recent work has focused on capturing light on water and the reflective surface of wet sand at low tide.

Andrea studied Fine Art Painting at Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork, and then a Bachelor of Design (First Class Honours) Ceramics/Craft Design 1997-2000 at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) Dublin.

Andrea has exhibited at the Lavitt Gallery, Cork, The Grainstore at Ballymaloe and the Botanic Gardens, Dublin.
